Test prep
Test prep in Brampton for EQAO, OSSLT, SAT and university applications
Newton's runs EQAO prep in Brampton for Grades 3 and 6, OSSLT prep for Grade 10, SAT and ACT prep for university-bound students, plus full university application support. Five test programs, one tutor team that knows the formats cold.
EQAO prep, Grade 3 and Grade 6
EQAO assessments measure reading, writing, and math at the end of Grade 3 and Grade 6. They are also a sneak preview of how your child handles standardized testing. We prep Brampton students with real test formats, age-appropriate timing practice, and the specific question types that show up year after year.
For Grade 3, we focus on:
- Reading comprehension passages and short responses
- Writing tasks with clear structure
- Math fluency, problem solving, and the EQAO calculator rules
For Grade 6, we add:
- Longer reading passages and inference questions
- Multi-paragraph writing
- Pre-algebra, fractions, ratios, and geometry under timed conditions

OSSLT preparation for Grade 10 students
The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test is a Grade 10 graduation requirement. Most students in Peel District and Dufferin-Peel Catholic schools take it in March or April. We run focused OSSLT prep with timed reading passages, short and long writing tasks, and the test-taking strategy that turns a stressful morning into a manageable one. Most students benefit from four to eight focused sessions before the test window. Our English tutoring page covers the deeper writing work for any student who needs it.
SAT and ACT prep for university-bound students
SAT and ACT prep is for students applying to US schools or to certain Canadian programs that consider scores. We prep both tests with the same approach: a diagnostic first, then targeted work on the sections where points are leaking, then full-length timed practice. Strong SAT and ACT prep usually runs three to six months, depending on the starting point and the target score range.
Our math tutoring page covers the math foundations behind the SAT math section, and our English tutoring page covers the reading and writing sections in depth.
University application support, OUAC and admission essays
For Grade 12 students, the application year is the highest-stakes one. We help with OUAC 101 (current Ontario high school students), OUAC 105 (everyone else), supplementary applications for programs like Western Ivey, Queen’s Commerce, and Waterloo Engineering, and Common App essays for US-bound students. For the full university prep program including major selection and interview coaching, see our university prep page.
How our test prep is built
Every test prep plan starts with a diagnostic. We give your child a baseline test in the actual format, see where the points are coming from and where they are leaking, and build the prep plan around those numbers. Then we work the gaps in priority order: high-leverage sections first, lower-yield work later.
Timed practice is non-negotiable. Whatever the test, your child takes it under real conditions before test day, with the same format, the same timing, and the same answer-recording method. Pacing is half the score. We make sure that piece is locked in.
This is also a place where modern tools earn their keep. AI generates calibrated practice questions tied to the exact gap, and pacing analytics from timed practice tests show us where seconds are getting lost. Tutors still drive strategy. AI accelerates practice volume.
Bootcamps, small groups, and 1-on-1 options
We run multiple formats. Weekly small-group sessions (capped at 4 to 5 students) are the steady track, with each student following their own prep plan; 1-on-1 is also available, especially for SAT and university-prep families who want intensive support. Bootcamps are more intensive and clustered close to test windows: a few weeks of focused work in the lead-up to EQAO, OSSLT, or an SAT date. We help you choose at the free assessment based on the test, the timeline, and your child’s pace.

Frequently asked questions
When should we start EQAO prep?
For Grade 3, two to three months ahead of the test window is plenty. For Grade 6, three to four months gives the right runway. Earlier is fine if your child wants to ease into it.
How long does SAT prep take?
Three to six months for most students, depending on the starting score and the target range. We map a timeline at the free assessment.
Do you help with OUAC and university essays?
Yes. We support OUAC 101, OUAC 105, supplementary applications, and Common App essays for US schools. See our university prep page for the full program.
Can my child join just a bootcamp?
Yes. Bootcamps are open to families who want focused prep close to a test date, even without a longer tutoring relationship.
Do you guarantee score improvements?
No. We do not promise score increases, because outcomes depend on the student showing up and putting in the work. What we do is build a personalized plan, run real diagnostics, share progress notes with you, and use the testing time honestly.
Do you prep for ACT as well as SAT?
Yes. We prep both tests, and at the free assessment we help you choose which one fits your child better.
