Math tutoring
Math tutoring in Brampton, from junior kindergarten to calculus
Newton's is a math tutor in Brampton that teaches the why behind every step, junior kindergarten through Grade 12. Our masters-trained tutors run small-group sessions (maximum 4-5 students) with personalized plans, and 1-on-1 is also available.
What Newton’s math tutoring covers
Math at Newton’s spans the full JK-12 arc, with a tutor who knows your child’s curriculum stage. We cover number sense and arithmetic in the early grades, fractions and ratios through middle school, then algebra, geometry, and functions into high school. By Grade 12 we are deep in calculus, advanced functions, and data management.
Coverage includes:
- Number sense, basic operations, fractions, measurement, and mental math (JK to Grade 6)
- Pre-algebra, integers, ratios and proportions, geometry, and data management (Grades 7-8)
- Grade 9 and 10 academic math (MPM2D)
- Functions (MCR3U), advanced functions (MHF4U), calculus and vectors (MCV4U), data management (MDM4U)
- Statistics, probability, and word-problem fluency at every level
If your child is in a Peel District school or a Brampton Catholic school and the math is feeling shaky, we can match the curriculum directly.
How we teach math
We start with a diagnostic, not a worksheet. Your child sits with a tutor for a free one-hour check-in, and we figure out where the understanding is solid and where it needs reinforcement. Then we build a learning plan around real concepts, not random drills.
Concepts come first, tools come second. A student who understands what a function does will outperform a student who memorized 10 formulas, every time. Once the foundation is there, we add practice volume, timed work, and exam-style questions.
This is also where we use AI thoughtfully. Tutors generate practice problems calibrated to the exact gap, use AI to walk through alternate explanations when one path is not clicking, and teach your child how to use these tools as a study partner instead of an answer machine. Parents are right to be wary of kids using ChatGPT for math homework. We turn that worry into a skill.
Math by grade level
Different grades, different goals. Here is how we tier our math support.
- Elementary, JK to Grade 5. Number sense, fact fluency, fractions, and EQAO Grade 3 readiness. Visit our elementary math tutoring page.
- Middle school, Grades 6-8. Pre-algebra, integers, ratios, and EQAO Grade 6 prep. See middle school math.
- High school, Grades 9-12. Course-aligned support for MPM2D, MCR3U, MHF4U, MCV4U, and MDM4U, plus university-entrance prep. See high school math, including MCV4U and MHF4U.
EQAO and high school math exam support
We prep Grade 3 and Grade 6 students for the EQAO math sections with the real test format in mind. For high school, we run focused prep for unit tests, midterms, and final exams across MPM2D through MCV4U. If your child is heading toward the SAT or a university math placement test, we cover that too. See our EQAO and SAT math prep for the full prep options.
What a typical session looks like
A Newton’s math session is one hour, in person, at our Lormel Gate centre. Most sessions are small groups, capped at 4 to 5 students, with each student following their own learning plan. 1-on-1 is also available for families who want it, often for intensive exam prep or summer work. Your child sits down with their tutor, opens their notebook, and walks through what was covered in school that week. The tutor checks in on the trickiest concept, works through targeted practice, and finishes with a short challenge problem to stretch the thinking.
Homework support happens when it is the right move. We do not do the homework for your child. We work alongside them so they leave knowing how to do it themselves next week.
Trained tutors with masters-level math backgrounds
Our tutor team holds masters-level degrees and brings more than 40 years of combined experience across classrooms and corporate work. They have taught the Ontario curriculum, coached competition math, and helped students into engineering, commerce, and science programs. Your child works with someone who has seen many learners and knows what actually moves the needle. Read more about our team on the about page.

Frequently asked questions
What grades do you tutor for math?
Junior kindergarten through Grade 12, including Ontario high school courses MPM2D, MCR3U, MHF4U, MCV4U, and MDM4U. We match the tutor to the level.
Do you cover MCV4U and MHF4U?
Yes. Both are core to our high school program, and we prep students for unit tests, finals, and university entrance.
Do you help with EQAO math?
Yes. We prep Grade 3 and Grade 6 students for the EQAO math sections using real test formats and pacing. See our test prep page for details.
Do you offer online math tutoring?
No. Newton's is in-person only, at 10 Lormel Gate in Brampton. We believe one-on-one math is taught best at a table with a notebook between you.
How long until we see progress?
Most students show progress within four to six sessions, depending on the starting point and goal. We share progress notes with you regularly so you can see what is shifting.
What does AI-aware math instruction mean?
It means we teach your child how to use AI tools as a study partner, not an answer key. Tutors use AI to generate calibrated practice and walk through alternate explanations. Your child learns to verify, not copy.
